Gary Lee Buser, Sr., died Thursday April 14, 2016 at his residence in Barnegat at the age of 75. Born in Mt. Holly, Gary was a resident of Beverly, Burlington, Willingboro and Springfield Virginia before moving to Barnegat. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving between the Korean and Vietnam Wars.

After his discharge from active service, Gary began a civilian career with the Navy/ US Department of Defense that lasted over thirty years. He was a Test Program Manager, specializing in Air Craft Carriers first in Philadelphia and later in Washington, DC. After his retirement he then worked for Northrup Grumman for a time and then later as an independent contractor for the Navy until 2014. During his time in the Navy he served on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVA 42) and was an active participant in the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt Reunion group and a member of the American Legion Post in Beverly. A true patriot, Gary proudly served his country, was awarded with a Cold War Service Medal by the U.S. Government and also loved reading about and learning American history. In addition to his love of country, Gary was an avid baseball fan who spent many hours coaching in Willingboro and surrounding areas.

He started the Willingboro Babe Ruth baseball league in the 1960s and was a co-founder of the Babe Ruth Bambino (10-12) League, (now Cal-Ripken) in the 1980s. He was also very active in the Willingbor PAL and served as a state and Mid-Atlantic Regional Commissioner for Babe Ruth Baseball. He was also active in various other community organizations such as Cub Scouts and St. Paul’s PTA. He was honored to be a recipient of the Willingboro Jaycees Distinguished Citizen Award for his many hours spent volunteering and coaching the youth of Willingboro. Gary also enjoyed watching sports, and enjoyed rooting for the Philadelphia sports teams, particularly the Phillies. The only thing greater than his love of country and sports, was Gary’s love for his family.

He most enjoyed spending time with family and friends and attending as many of his grandchildren’s sporting events as he possibly could. He was an extraordinary man and he was deeply loved by everyone who had the blessing of having him in their lives. Son of the late Albert and Anna Buser, Gary is survived by his wife Dolly (nee Iovine) who he was a devoted and loving husband to for 58 years, his children; Gary, Jr. (Patricia), Robin (Mary), Marylyn (Tom), Aaron (Christina), his grandchildren; Griffin, Samantha, Miranda, Thomas, Kyle, Sean, Aidan, Matteo and Sofia, his siblings; Donald, Albert, Jr., Barbara, Wayne and Ellen as well as several nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
