Gary Lee Blalack, 87, of Boerne passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020.

Gary was born on March 29, 1933 in Big Spring, TX to Pat and Irma Blalack. Gary loved to ride motorcycles, and he was interested in anything mechanical. He loved to design and build model airplanes and was a member of the Kerrville R/C Flyers. He also loved building pieces of furniture, and several pieces he designed over the years were made with mesquite wood that came from his parents’ farm. Gary served in the Texas National Guard and then enlisted in the US Army during the Korean war. After his discharge, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served until he received a medical discharge due to his prosthetic eye. He then went to college on the GI Bill and completed two years before he met his wife-to-be. He married Louise Plew in Big Spring on Oct. 5, 1962, and they were blessed with a daughter in 1964 and a son in 1971. They lived in Enid, OK where he worked at Vance AFB as a jet engine mechanic, later moving to Wichita Falls, TX where he continued that work at Sheppard AFB. After 25 years, they moved to San Antonio where Gary worked as an A&P mechanic for Jaffe at the San Antonio International Airport. In 1992, he had to medically retire due to chronic health problems, and they moved to Boerne.

Gary is survived by his wife, Louise Blalack; his daughter, Tina Fell (William) of Lubbock, TX; his son, Chris Blalack of Boerne; and his three grandchildren, Brandon Fell, Taylor Fell, and Justin Fell.

He was preceded in death by his father, Pat Blalack, and his mother, Irma Blalack.

The family would like to express their gratitude towards the staff at Audie L.
