WEST HARTLAND – Gary J. Welcome, 47, of West Hartland, beloved husband and best friend of Gwen (Crunden) Welcome, died unexpectedly on March 4, 2015. He was the devoted father of Brian Paul and Daniel Gordon Welcome. He leaves his parents Barbara and William E. Welcome Sr. of Winsted, sister and godmother Virginia Coppinger of Winsted, brother James and wife Maryann of Winsted, brother William E. Jr. (Barney) and wife Jean of Winsted, brother Robert and wife Karen of Winsted, brother John and wife Zhen of West Hartland, sister Shirley McKenna and husband Peter of Torrington, and brother Thomas and fiancé Robin Morris of Winsted. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Lorraine Crunden of West Hartland, and his brother-in-law and lifelong best friend Gordon P. Crunden Jr. and his wife Dawn, of East Hartland. He was predeceased by his brother Brian, and father-in-law and dear friend Gordon P. Crunden Sr. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and members of his large, extended was a devoted husband of 24 years and beloved father to his two sons, who were the light of his life. He was a coach and dedicated supporter of their sports activities, and enjoyed the annual family trip to Montauk, New York, where many wonderful memories were made with his family there: Aunt Shirley Dean, cousins David, Brian and Nancy and their families, and late uncle Robert was a talented craftsman and enthusiastic cook, whose easy nature and quick wit never failed to entertain at every occasion. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
