Gary Guenter Bligh, age 80, was born and educated in Germany. He came to the USA as an exchange student in 1954 for one year, and professionally in 1958 as a corporate developer for several German companies in New York. His career was interrupted for 2 years by drafted service in the US Army.
Upon returning to civilian life in New York and later New Jersey, he successfully introduced the international Pelikan, Montblanc, and Koh-I-Noor product lines to the American markets. He rose quickly through the management ranks to Vice President – Marketing and International, with responsibilities for North and Central American markets.
In 1982 Mr. Bligh founded, developed and lead Schwan Stabilo USA, Inc., a national distribution company, for many years as President in Peachtree City, GA.
Retiring from corporate life in 1992, Mr. Bligh opened his own retail store “Pen Central” in Fayetteville. He also founded “Blinco”, a German language interpretation and teaching company with clients throughout the metro Atlanta area as well as the Fayette and Coweta County School Systems.
Mr. Bligh is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol; son Greg and his wife, Kim, and their two children Jessica and Rebecca; son Chris and his wife Pam, and their son, Zach; son Jami and his wife Kim, and their two children, Nick and Andrea. He is also survived by a sister Doris and her daughter (niece), Petra.
