Gary Franklin Norman, 74, of Lafayette, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at his home. He was born October 23, 1947, in Lafayette to the late Paul Norman and the late Marjorie (Garrison) Norman McClatchie. Gary graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School and attended Southwest Louisiana, where he played basketball and ran track.
On April 23, 1978, he married Karen McCoskey in Lafayette and she survives. Gary worked as a truck driver for North American Van Lines for over 30 years and enjoyed his part-time work with American Paving & Asphalt after retiring.
Surviving along with his wife are his children Daniel (Lori) Norman of Matthews, NC; Eric (Kristin) Bruce of West Lafayette; Amy (Jason Menk) Gallivan; Paul Norman; Patrick Norman (Crystal Miller); Tamara (Justin Corbin) Norman all of Lafayette. Gary was especially proud of all of his grandchildren: Jaselyn Norman of Charlotte, NC; Jarrett (McKenzie) Norman of Powell, TN; Ian and Emma Bruce of West Lafayette; Nikolas and Noah Gallivan; and Justin, Aubrey, and Bailey Corbin all of Lafayette. Also surviving are his siblings Connie Mikels of West Lafayette, David Norman, Jane (Ed) Nesmith all of Lafayette, and Janice (John) Mattson of Delphi. Gary was preceded in death by a daughter Leslie Ann and a granddaughter Allison.
Gary enjoyed watching and hearing about his grandchildren’s sporting events, school events, and other activities. He was always concerned about his family’s well-being. Gary also enjoyed watching and listening to the Jefferson High School and Purdue games and relaxing in his pool.
