Gary D. Huettemann, 79, of Peru, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mr. Huettemann was born December 8, 1941, at People’s Hospital, now St. Margaret’s Health, in Peru to Fred and Frieda (Gaus) Huettemann.
He married Marjorie Rosenkranz at St. Joseph’s Church in LaSalle on September 4, 1965. Mr. Huettemann was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, Peru. He was employed in various capacities throughout his life, including S.S. Kresge Co. in Moline, Maze Nails in Peru, Gary’s Countryside Inn in McNabb, and Gary’s Taxi Service in LaSalle-Peru. Mr. Huettemann enjoyed camping, woodworking, and tinkering in the garage. His greatest joy was his family and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; two sons, Steven (Lisa) Huettemann of Morris and Brian (Theresa) Huettemann of LaSalle; four grandchildren, Lindsey, Audrey, Anja, and Aric; his sister, Joan Maxey of Lombard and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lyle and Karl Huettemann.
