Gary Concannon passed away suddenly at home on Friday, December 2, 2016. Gary was born in 1950 in Garden City, Kansas to Wanda and the late Herbert Concannon. Gary graduated from Sandia High School in 1968 where he played football, basketball, and was on the track team. Gary served in the United States Air Force from 1971 until 1975. He then went on to attend the University of New Mexico where he graduated with a master’s degree in business administration and later received his CPA. He worked for the City of Albuquerque and was then employed by Sandia National Laboratories from 1981 until his retirement in 2012. Following his retirement he worked as a consultant for Oracle and the Choctaw nation. Gary’s love for his family was demonstrated each and every day. His grandchildren became the light of his life. They often went to the park to play, get ice cream and junk food (when Gretchen wasn’t looking), to the movies, swimming, and the trampoline park. Gary loved to ski, play tennis, and bike and coached youth soccer and basketball. He loved hiking the mountains of New Mexico and could often be found watching football and cheering for the his favorite team, the Denver Broncos. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Herbert Concannon. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gretchen Concannon; children, Brandi Zaslansky and husband, Oren, Brett Concannon and wife, Diane, and Britany Sylvester and husband, Billy; seven beloved grandchildren, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Elias, Ilaya, Safin, Stellan, and Aeson; his mother, Wanda Concannon; brothers, Michael and Kyle; and sisters, Patricia and Midge.
