Gary was born in Marshalltown, Iowa, on April 10, 1939, to C.C. and Betty Jane Boggie. He graduated from Marshalltown High School on June 4, 1957, and went on to attend Marshalltown Junior College where he earned an Associate in Arts degree on June 6, 1962. Gary attended Maryville University for a short time where he became a member of the nationally-renowned TKE fraternity. At this point of his life, a college buddy of his asked him if he wanted to take a road trip to Colorado. Without hesitation and since Gary had the car, off to Colorado they went. Little did he know at the time that Colorado would be where he would spend the remainder of his life journey. Gary worked several different jobs before settling in as a salesman for Desks, Incorporated, where he worked until the mid-80’s. He went on to get his real estate license and worked at Cherry Creek Realtors for several years. Gary ended his working career by driving a bus for RTD Access-A-Ride and retired in 2013.
Along Gary’s life journey, he met Kathy Trainor and they were married June 7, 1975. They had two children, Matt in 1982 and Sarah in 1983. He had wonderful memories of vacations with the kids, trips to Hawaii and his trips back to Marshalltown to attend his class reunions.
Gary was an avid sports fan and had season tickets to the Colorado Buffs games, as well as to the Denver Bronco games. He loved golf, both playing and watching it. He was a lover of Maid Rite sandwiches (a Marshalltown original), red beers, tart green apples and just about any kind of candy.
Gary is survived by his wife, Kathy, son, Matthew (Michelle), daughter, Sarah Howley (Brian) and two beautiful grandchildren, Declan and Griffin Howley.
