Gary C. Horton was born January 24, 1948 and was one of two sons born to the late Reverend Robert Calvin Horton and Eula Virginia Swanson Horton. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by a son, Andy Horton. After graduating from Western High School, Gary was drafted and served in the US Army. With strong will and determination, Gary set out to make a living. His affinity for anything with a motor first led him to breaking up gardens for friends in 1975. This led into bush hogging, landscaping, and earth moving. Hard work and hands on management enabled him to be successful as a businessman.

He was a gregarious person, by nature. If he did not see you very often, he just took up the last conversation you had with him. He loved a good joke – especially, if at someone’s expense. He naturally acquired a large family and the blood lines did not really matter. It was always about relationships. Gary was a towering presence, both literally and figuratively. There was never a doubt when he was on the scene. Ironically, it was while participating in his favorite sport that he left this life for his heavenly life.

He is survived by his wife Sherry Carroll Horton. His children are Kevin (and Nikki) Horton, Matthew (and Lauren) Cash, Jamie (and Jessica) Cash, Kalie Fuller. He was a larger than life grandfather to Austin Horton, Bailey Guitton, Shelby Horton, Daylah Duncan, Gracie Horton, Emily Kate Cash, Kaitlyn Greer, Dylan Hale, Kennedi Cash and Hayden Cash. He is also survived by his brother Ernest Horton and his wife Lee.
