Gary graduated from Tintic High School and attended Salt Lake Area Vocational School where he studied commercial art and later attended Weber State University. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in 1961, graduated from U.S. Quartermaster Supply Schools in both Fort Ord, California and in Fort Lee, Va. And served in France as a company clerk and sharpshooter F-16 Specialist for two years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve Sept 1964 – 1966. From 1971 – 1997, he served in the U. S.
