Garry L. Halbur, age 76, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield, WI.
Garry was born July 12, 1946 in Wisconsin Rapids to Ben and Irene (Pribbanow) Halbur. He attended Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. He served his country in the United States Army 101st Airborne and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He married Wanda Swim on October 31, 1981 in Yelm, Washington.
Garry loved spending time with family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved animals. He enjoyed horseback riding on the Cascade Range. He was a skilled woodworker, especially carver, and has some of his pieces on display at a California art gallery. He loved the many rescue dogs he had over the years and also enjoyed collecting firearms.
Garry is survived by his wife, Wanda “Muppet” Halbur; son, Garry “Butch” Halbur, Jr. (wife Shannon, and their children Hanna and Riley) of Renton, Washington; brothers Bruce Halbur (wife Berneil) of Tumwater, Washington, and Francis Huntington (wife Betsy) of Olympia, Washington; sister, Pam Drawsby (husband Robert) of Tumwater, Washington; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Shari Halbur; and brother, Connie Halbur.
Memorials may be designated to the South Wood County Humane Society.
