Garry “Big Daddy” Galassini, age 66, of Zion, IL, formerly of Highwood, IL passed peacefully into heaven with his family by his side on Friday, May 27, 2022. Born September 15, 1955 in Highland Park, Illinois to the union of Emilio “Babe” and Josephine (Serafini) Galassini. Garry attended St. James Catholic School in Highwood and then graduated from Highland Park High School.
Garry enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, cooking, riding his Harley, working on cars, learning languages, history & current world events.
His most treasured memories were those spent with family and friends.
He leaves behind his mother, Josephine Galassini who passed away on July 1, 2022; sisters, Donna (Harold) Saalfeld and Lisa (Dale) Johnson; his only and much loved nephew, Samuel Joseph (Samantha) Saalfeld.
He was preceded in death by his father, Emilio J. Galassini in 2007 and older brother, Brian L. Galassini in 2004.
The family would like to thank all the physicians, nurses, chaplain and the entire staff at Vista East Medical Center for their outstanding & compassionate care given to Garry.
