Garrett Leroy Hill, August 6, 1917 – July 27, 2012.

Belton— Retired Colonel Garrett Hill, 94 of Morgans Point Resort, died Friday July 27, 2012 at his home. Mr. Hill was born August 6, 1917, in Norman, Oklahoma, the son of Garrett L. Hill and Cordillia (Beard) Hill.

He married Muriel (Mic) Klippel, July 18, 1938 in Norman, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of the University of Maryland, University of Mary Hardin Baylor and received his masters from George Washington University. He retired from the United States Army after 30years, which included serving in World War II and Korea. He was director of Industrial Operations at Ft. Hood when he retired. After the military retired Mr. Hill built a Foundry, spin casting, in Temple. He also was a licensed real estate broker.

He moved to Morgans Point Resort in the mid 1970’s. He, along with others worked to see Morgans Point Resort incorporated into a city. He was a city councilman for 12 years. Mr. Hill was a 32nd degree Mason. He was a long time member of the Temple Lions Club and a member of P. O. S. T of Morgans Point Resort. He was a member of the Old St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Belton.

Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his son Garrett L. Hill III. Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Muriel (Mic) Hill of Morgans Point Resort and daughter Kay Casey of Petersburg, Virginia, two grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
