Garnett Lee Masengale, 91, of Franklin passed away Saturday, September 28, in Franklin.

She was born November 8, 1927, in Birds, Illinois to the late Henry Howard and Chloe Rena (Rich) Weger.

She married Robert M. Masengale on April 17, 1953 in Lawrenceville, Illinois and they were happily married for almost 64 years when she was proceeded in death by her husband on March 3, 2017.

She was an amazing mother of 4 children, a den mother for her sons Boy Scouts, room mother for her kids in elementary school, and also supported her husband’s sub-contractor business, doing the bookkeeping and paying vendors. Later she was also a real estate agent for Carriage Estates, ran the small boutique chain she and her husband owned, Jeans N Things, worked for Beverly Nursing Home in Franklin, volunteered at the local hospital as a Gray Lady, and played cards with several ladies groups. She was very active.

She was a member of the Eastern Star for over 50 years and resided up to the time of her death at Compass Park, the Masonic Home. She and her husband Bob were also active members of the American Legion, VFW, and Elks Club.

Garnett is survived by three of her children, Candace (David) Berry of Scottsdale Arizona, and Tina Marie Masengale, and Robert Howard Masengale both of Franklin. She also has two grandchildren, Jacob Howard Masengale and Alyssa Jo Masengale, and a great-granddaughter Hermynee Leigh McKie.

She was proceeded in death by not only her husband Bob Masengale, but also her son, James Martin Masengale, and her three sisters, Edna Borden, Daisy Horsely, and Frances Swaner.
