Garland A. Kerns, age 92, Logansport, passed away at 12:52 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at WoodBridge Health Campus.
Born February 5, 1916, in Cass County, Garland was the son of Otha and Bertha Kerns.
He was married February 22, 1941, in Wheeling, Indiana, to Elizabeth M. Seward, who preceded in death on October 6, 1990.
Mr. Kerns was retired from General Tire and Rubber Company. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and had served in Hawaii following the attack on Pearl Harbor.
Garland was a graduate of Royal Center High School where he played on the basketball team.
Surviving are a daughter, Anita Eickstead, Burnsville, Minnesota; a son, Byron A. Kerns and his wife, Francine, Leesburg, Florida; six grandchildren, Scott Eickstead, Angela Eickstead, Jessica Kerns, Kassi Kerns, McKinley Kerns, and Jacob Kerns; several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
