The world was left with fewer smiles on Tuesday, August 9, 2011 when Garbasio (George)  Fernando  Goiri, of Caldwell, passed away of natural causes at local hospital. George was born October 8, 1932 in Boise, Idaho, as the son of Basque immigrants, Jose Goiri of Ereno Viscaya, and Maria Pilar Arriola of Elanchove Viscaya, Spain. His childhood was spent in Boise, Nampa, and Marsing on family farms.  He started his schooling in Marsing making a long lasting friendship starting from 1st grade with another non-English speaking friend, Archie Yamamoto.  He went on to graduate from Boise High School in 1950.

George married his high school sweetheart Donna Eytchison on Valentine’s Day 1952 in Boise, Idaho, where she cared for him in sickness and in health for 59 years. Their first home was on Cole Rd where George milked cows on the Newhouse Dairy where St. Mark’s School is now located.  While living here they were blessed with two children, Richard Dean in 1953, and Linda Jo in 1954.

In 1972, John Asuaga offered George a job managing his cattle ranch in Jack Valley, Nevada. He moved his family there for a short time but the family missed Idaho too much and they returned to Caldwell.

In 1983, George started his own animal health business, Farm City Livestock Supply, along with MWI and later Carl Woodburn as partners. George’s catch phrase was “Toe to Titty It’s Farm City.” George had a successful business for 10 years due to his friendly manner and love for his customers until retiring in 1993.

George cared deeply for his family and was very proud of his Basque heritage. His love of life was shared with his family, many friends, and business associates as well as the community.  George was a charter member of the Caldwell Basques, and a member of the Euzkaldank Basque Center of Boise, the Basque Museum and Cultural Center, Idaho Cattlemen’s Association and a lifetime member of the Caldwell Elk’s Lodge.  He liked to fish and take annual trips with his much loved “Huggie Bears”.

George loved golf so much he bought his home off the Purple Sage golf course without seeing inside or telling his wife because he loved the back yard and steps down to the 14th tee .

George was also a great Mariners, Boise State, and Seahawks fan.  Family dinners and events were planned around the game schedules.

George is survived by his wife Donna, and daughter Linda Marchbanks (Roger Mackey) of Caldwell; sisters Trine Moad Snow of Caldwell, Lydia Black of Boise; brother John Goiri (Jo) of Kennewick, WA; four grandchildren, Daniel Marchanks (Tami Horn), Katie Marchbanks, Susan Michelle Mulheron (Jeremiah), and Kirsten Nicholes; three step grand daughters Ruthie, Chelsea & Lauren Mackey, three great grand-children, Jaden and Tristen Huerta and Athena Mackey; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Richard Dean and son-in-law Mitchell Marchbanks.
