Galyn “Joe” Paul Bushee, 72, resident of Albuquerque since 1949, passed away on April 29, 2016 with family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold R. and Lois Eileen Bushee; and niece, Connie Alleyne Stagner. Joe is survived by sister, Carol Stagner and husband, Charlie; brother, Terry Bushee and wife Janice; nieces and nephews, Gregory Stagner, David Bushee and wife, Lisa, Matthew Stagner, Debora Russell and husband Marc, and Bradley Stagner; extended family members and loved ones.
Joe was born on November 10, 1943 in downtown Los Angeles, CA, the youngest of three children. When he was very young everything to him was “What’s up Joe”, “What do you know Joe”, and even his favorite cartoon was G.I. Joe so his father tagged him as Joe. When he was a kid Joe fixed bicycles for children in the neighborhood for free as long as they bought the parts. From Sprint cars to Indy he loved auto racing. Galyn also enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and roller skating. Joe was very active and enjoyed swimming, playing football, and square dancing. After Galyn graduated from Albuquerque High he enlisted in the United States Army at 20 years old. While serving in Vietnam, he was a sharp shooter and became a communication and lineman technician for the Army. Upon his return home he worked for his dad at the family business, Universal Woodworking Inc. After his father’s death in 1976, Joe began his career with Bradbury and Stamm, then OGB Architecture, where he worked until his retirement. After retiring he enjoyed shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was baptized in his later years by John Phillis. Joe will be remembered as a gentle, kind, and quiet person and will be missed by many. He was a quiet person because as the youngest child he could never get a word in.
