Obituary
WHITEDEER — Galen S. Pope, 71, passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2008 at his home.
He was born April 3, 1936, in Danville, a son of the late Michael and Gertrude (Smith) Pope. On June 25, 1966, he married the former Patricia M. Wright and they have celebrated 41 years of marriage.
Galen graduated from Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in New York and served with the Army during the 1950’s.
He retired from the All American Truck Stop, Milton, where he had worked for five years. Earlier in life, he had worked in his father’s business, M.E. Pope Plumbing and Heating out of Mile Hall area of Sunbury and also at Pilco Corp., Watsontown.
He was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Churchk, McEwensville.
Galen enjoyed watching western movies.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his step-mother, Rose M. Pope of Sunbury; three daughters and sons-in-laws, Teresa M. and Michael Everitt of Watsontown, Gaylynn and Don Hoover of Sunbury and Debra and Walter Reaser of Allenwood; seven grandchildren, Coty Everitt, Ashley, Brooke, and Erica Thomas, and Dylan, Nathaniel and Taylor Reaser; one brother, Marty Pope of Selinsgrove; one sister, Virginia “Ginny” Lucas of Lewisburg; two half-brothers, Michael Pope, Jr. of Northumberland and Rusty Onderdonk in Georgia; and two half-sisters, Janice Pope of Bethlehem and Frances Reische in Florida.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Reaser.
Friends are invited to call from 6 to 8 PM Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church, McEwensville, where a funeral service will be conducted at 10 AM Friday with his pastor, the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell officiating.
Burial will follow in Orchard Hills Memorial Park, Shamokin Dam.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to Evangelical Home Hospice, One Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.
