Gale W. Koehler, 84, of Peru, passed away Thursday, July 28, 2011 at the LaSalle Veterans Home.

Mr. Koehler was born on May 10, 1927 in Peru to Arthur and Viola (Mason) Koehler. He married Edith Ballerini on June 18, 1949 in the Rectory at St. Benedicts Church in Ladd. He and his brother owned Koehler Construction in Peru for 28 years. He served in the Navy during WWII. He was on the board of directors at Colonial Savings and Loan and was also the General Contractor when the bank was built. Gale was a member of the Carpenters Union, Lucky 7 Duck Club in Henry, Ducks Unlimited, NRA, and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife Edith of Peru; one son, Gene (Maureen) Koehler of Streator; and 8 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Gale Koehler; one daughter, Gwen Davis; one brother, Calvin Koehler; four sisters, Virginia Garcia, Fonda Chapman, Ardis Bolen, and Eileen Holman.
