Richard Gail Wright, 78, of Alexander, IL passed away January 15, 2011 at his home in Alexander.

He was born February 18, 1932 in Literberry, IL; the son of George B. and Eva Lee Hull Wright. He married Peggy Kearns on February 23, 1952 in Pocahontas, AR and she survives.

He is also survived by four children, Rick Wright Jr. (wife, Kathy) of Springfield, Randy Wright (wife, Marty) of Alexander, Connie Johnson (husband, Ed) of Las Vegas, NV, and Janet Orris (husband, Billy) of Franklin; 14 grandchildren, Sarah Wright, Ricky Wright, Mary Beth Hammelman, Missy Naeve, Dustin Wright, Craig Johnson, Heidi Brill, Joseph Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Philip Johnson, Shannon Cole, Emily Orris, Abby Hudson and Lucas Orris; 20 great grandchildren; a brother, Reuel Wright Sr. of Alexander; three sisters, Doe Kemper and Donna Strope of Alexander and Shirley Spradlin (husband, John) of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; seven brothers, Robert, Warren, Dean, William, Ray, Harold (surviving wife, Naomi of Jacksonville), and Jerry Wright (surviving wife, Roxy of Alexander); and three sisters, Betty McFadden, Linda Lee Wright, and Peggy Ann Wright.

Mr. Wright began his career in carpentry at the age of 14, later founding Gail Wright & Sons Construction in January of 1964. He served as a general contractor and home builder for 46 years. He also served from 1952-54 with the US Army during the Korean War. Gail was a member of the Jacksonville Moose Lodge and a life member of Amvets Post #100, VFW Post #1379, and American Legion Post #279. He enjoyed collecting toy tractors in his spare time.
