Gahani Lee was born September 28th, 1970 to Delta McLeod and the late Robert E. Lee. Gahani aka “Poppy” as his mom called him, grew up on Clarke Place in the Bronx.
After graduating high school, he attended Wilfred Academy School of Cosmetology. Gahani excelled at coloring, cut, and hair design which led him to opportunities such as working with Revlon and winning 2nd place in The Atlanta Fantasy Hair Design Show. Gahani’s hairstyles graced the boxes of Creme of Nature and the pages of Black Hair magazines. We are so proud of the accomplishments he made with his “hands full of grace.”
Gahani worked for many salons including Crown & Glory and Done Up! He was a well respected hairstylist and friend to all of his co-workers & clients.
Gahani is survived by his mother, Delta McLeod; six brothers and sisters: Michelle Simpkins of Bronx, NY; Charlie McLeod Jr. of Killeen, Texas; Veronica McLeod of Bronx, NY; Randy McLeod of New Jersey; Rakeecha Lee of Harlem, NY; and Charlene Okoye (John) of Raleigh, NC; two godchildren, Jade Fortune (godson) and Kiana Sumlin (goddaughter), and a host of nieces and nephews whom he loved like his own children.
