Gabriel Urcaregui, 90, passed away on September 30, 2017 in Emmett, ID. He was born on March 24, 1927 in Ispaster, Bizkaia Spain to Francisco Urcaregui and Nikolasa Careaga. Gabriel left school at an early age to help support his family. He worked in coal until he was drafted into the Spanish military.
Gabriel enjoyed watching boxing matches and pelota, going to auctions, and getting together with his Basque friends. In his younger days, he was an avid bike rider and won several races. He rode a stationary bike and lifted weights for as long as he could to stay strong. Gabriel was an independent, strong, hardworking soul that will be missed by many.
Gabriel is preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Vicenta, Miren, Maria Carmen and Felisa; and his brothers, Santi, Jose, Juan and Angel. He is survived by his sister, Juanita; brother, Rufino; sister-in-laws Barbara Urcaregui and JoAnn Urcaregui, and many nieces and nephews.
