G.W. SIMMONS, 81, Deming resident passed away Thursday July 14, 2016 at his home.
G. W. was born January 9, 1935 in Salado, Texas to Alpha I. Forbis and Harry Simmons. A Deming resident since 1961 coming from Aleman, NM. G.W. worked at Luna County Road Department as a blade man and had attended Southern Baptist Church. He was a member of Luna County Sheriff’s Posse group where he played cowboy polo. He was good with a rope, loved the outdoors and a good horse, camping, hunting, fishing. He was a dead eye. He hated to quit team roping. G.W. loved all his grandkids, his country music and enjoyed playing the guitar.
G.W. is survived by his wife, Laona Simmons of the home; 2 sons, Robin Lee Simmons and his wife Jean of Fort Summer, NM, Bon Clayton Simmons of Deming; daughter, Audie Ewing and her husband Bill of Las Cruces; 8 grandchildren, Brandon, Marly, Laremy, Cameron, Keri, Clayton, Clacie, Mickey and 5 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Lizzy, Graham, Dani and Grainger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Alpha Simmons and a daughter, Juree Vaughn.
