G. Leo Lane, the son of George and Selma Anderson Lane, was born November 28, 1920 and was a graduate of Newton High School in 1940.

On July 2, 1942 Leo was united in marriage to Wilma Bagnall in Kirksville, Missouri. He owned and operated his own carpenter and home building business for 30+ years. leo later worked for the Holiday Inn for 19 years as a maintenance man prior to his retiring. He enjoyed hunting, but his true love was fishing. Leo loved the solitude and beauty of being on a river or stream fishing. He held one of the few lifetime fishing licenses that the State of Iowa issued one year. Leo was a loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Leo died Thursday, January 31, 2002 at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. He was 81. Leo was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Adam Lane; and three brothers, Ted, Kenny and Paul Lane.
