Fred died Thursday, April 30, 2015 at at his home at Legacy Estates in Lincoln.
Friedrich E. (Fred) Hilkemann was born on November 5, 1918 on a farm in Wayne County to Augusta and Herman Hilkemann. He was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hadar in 1932. He attended a one room school house in Pierce County graduating in 1933.
Fred married Ruth Pfeiffer on June 10, 1952. They farmed until 1959 in Pierce County and then moved to Norfolk. Fred worked at Norfolk Public Schools and Northeast Community College in Norfolk until retirement.
Fred is survived by son, Aaron and his wife Jennifer of Lincoln: daughter-in-law Cheryl of Norfolk: nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Fred also is survived by two brothers, Edward and Paul and three sisters, Gladys Spreeman, Hilda Knapp and Ella Bohn.
Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, son Leo, an infant grandchild, his parents and three brothers and two sisters.
