Freeman A. Imel, 92 years young; son of Ferrel and Nellie Imel was born on April 27, 1926; passed away October 23, 2018 at Crown Point Assisted Living in Anderson.
He was a native of Anderson. He worked at Anaconda for 30 years until closing. He also worked at the Madison County Government Center and the Center for Mental Health- CMA. He was a veteran of the US Army during World War II, and a soldier at the Battle of the Bulge in Germany. He was a member of the Indianapolis United Church of God. He was married October 23, 1948 for 58 years to Sarah “Sally” (Cox) Imel, who passed away January 9, 2006.
Freeman is survived by his children, Michael Imel, Marna (Jim Boysel) Boblitt both of Anderson; two granddaughters, April (Corey) Grimes of Pendleton, and Angela Imel of Nevada; two great-grandchildren, Cole Grimes of Pendleton, and Liberty Imel of Nevada. Also surviving, are his brother Forrest (Patsy) Imel; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mark A. Imel, who lost his life at the age of 24 in an automobile accident; sister, Ramona (Dave) Sylvester; and his brother, Donald Imel.
