Freeda “Fritz” Kanady, of Jacksonville and formerly of Springfield, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2019, surrounded by her devoted caregiver, James “Jim” Bettis, and her daughters, Amber Kanady and J’ne Erlenbush, following a long struggle with liver cancer.
She was born in Ripley, MS, living with her grandparents, C.O. and Myrtle Crum, and her parents, James and Betty Tucker.
She was a servant of the Lord, having served as a Sunday school teacher. She also participated in various musical productions, mission trips and other projects. The loves of her life were her daughters, Amber Kanady and J’ne (Brian) Erlenbush, and her grandson, Briar.
After college, Fritz taught in various school districts, and ended her career at the Illinois House of Representatives, never losing her smile or her sense of humor. Let us rejoice and be glad on her journey home.
