Our dear husband, father, brother, and friend, Fred Sievert, passed away unexpectedly to walk peacefully in his eternal heavenly home on October 14, 2022. Fred passed while home with his family and friends surrounding him.
This home, built by Fred himself, is a beautiful two-story cabin, overlooking the creek and the wild Colorado lands and will be but one legacy he leaves to his beloved family. Words are hard to come by to explain this extraordinary individual. If you were blessed to know him, you knew that his world revolved around his wife and two children.
In turn, he was the solid rock foundation of their lives too. Fred is survived by his wife, Nguyen “Win” (nee Vo) Sievert; high school aged children, Richard and Ashley Sievert; and his niece, Khanh An “An” Tran, all of the home. He also is survived by extended family and friends, all who now carry incredible memories and stories of his life of giving, loving, and endless energy and sense of adventure.
Fred not only lived for his family he absolutely loved to stay busy and have adventures. This includes his passion for cooking and baking and then delivering to many friends and family (his cheesecakes and canned goods will never be forgotten); gardening (which seemed to grow bigger each year), fishing and hunting. He loved to fish at Eleven Mile with whoever was ready to go with him. However, it would be hard to argue that Fred’s greatest gift to loved ones was his endless enthusiasm for life and his altruistic way of always wanting to give to and help others while not allowing anything in return, except friendship and brotherhood.
Fred was born into this world on November 21, 1958, to Frederick C. Jr. and Madeline C. (nee Burd) Sievert in Pueblo, Colorado. He attended public schools and graduated Pueblo South High School in 1977. Not long after graduation, Fred joined the Army, serving in the South Korea DMZ zone, among other Army Posts. It was in the Army where Fred discovered radar and electrical components as a Weapons Support Radar Repairer. He completed his enlistment at Fort Carson Mountain Post, Colorado. Fred continued training in electrical components as a civilian and forged a career from his training in the Army.
His first job was working for Unisys (now Lockheed-Martin), starting in 1988. In 1991, Fred made a switch to work for FMC (an agricultural science company). Working for FMC afforded him the opportunity to see other parts of the world, which included Australia. Then in 1997, Fred got back to working with micro-electronics at ATMEL Corporation, manufacturing semiconductors, then later working as a Development Engineer for VITESSE Corp. before they shut down their Colorado Springs operations in 2006. After the shutdown, he moved Aeroflex (now Cobham Advanced Electronic Solutions), where he continued to work as a Development Engineer until forced into early disability retirement in 2017.
On April 9, 2005, Fred married Win, the love of his life. In 2006, Fred and Win welcomed a son, Richard, and two years later their daughter, Ashley. Fred was always very involved in his children’s school and related activities, until the ground was pulled up from under him around 2014, when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease at age 55. Never would you hear Fred complain or be defeated. He fought bravely and courageously, never quitting, even up to the days before he passed. His light left us way too early, but some solace can be found now that he is home with the Lord and able to walk tall, laugh and smile again without pain.
