Fredrick Carl Chafin, 58, of Lafayette, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at his residence.

He was born January 2, 1964, in Lafayette, to the late Helen Louise (Eberle) Chafin and Carl Cliffton Chafin of Cadis, KY.

Fred graduated from Harrison High School in 1982 and served in the Army during the Gulf War. While serving his country Fred was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Driver Mechanic Badge, Army Lapel Button, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

His marriage was to Lorraine Kaye Arnold and she survives.

Fred was a forklift technician for Tynan Equipment since 2000.

He served as a 3 time past Commander of American Legion Post 492 and enjoyed yard work, fixing things and fishing.

Surviving with his father and wife are two sons, Jarod Chafin and Brandon Chafin both of Lafayette, a sister, Jennifer (John) Chafin Walker and a brother, Dave (Leighann) Chafin both of AZ.
