It is with great sadness that the family of Fred Leidy announces his passing.  Fredrick R. Leidy passed peacefully on October 11, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.  He was born in Niles, Michigan on April 23, 1945 to Fred Leidy and Elaine Fender.  He is survived by son Jeffrey Leidy, daughter in law Melissa Leidy, grandchildren Bryson and Brianna Leidy, mother Elaine Leidy, sister Sue Scherr, two nephews Joseph and Christopher Dutoi and niece Jaime Halter.

He graduated from Niles High School in 1964 where he played football and was a member of ROTC.  He then went on to serve his country and joined the Army.  He graduated from Non Commissioned Officers (NCO) where he became a sergeant and served in Vietnam.

He married Sandy in 1975 and they relocated to Pompano Beach, Florida and eventually settled in Boca Raton where they created unforgettable memories.  He worked for Action Plumbing Supply where his son and grandson have followed in his footsteps.  he was a member of the American Legion Post 277 for many years …. where he has strong community with friends …. For the last 18 years, he would reunite with his army friends every year and reminisce their war stories.  They called themselves The Big Red One and their motto was “No mission too difficult, No sacrifice too great, Duty first.”  Fred loved all sports, but especially baseball; he was a big card collector.  On Sundays, he would cheer for the Miami Dolphins.

Fred loved his family and would do anything for each and every one of us.  He also loved his animals and was happy to spend his last days at home with them.
