Home is where your treasure is. There, your heart is also. The secret to happiness is a good sense of humor, a better sense of life and a bad memory. Frederick W. Lassby was unassuming. He kept to himself but was a “clown” of sorts who found warmth and enjoyed the simple pleasures of being at home.
The most lost day in life is the day we don’t laugh. So innocent were Fred’s days. Filled with good memories. Wednesday, September 23, 2020 was Mr. Lassby’s last day. After 79 years We lost our day and our love at Virtua-Lourdes Hospital in Camden.
Mr. Lassby was born in Philadelphia and had been a long time Oaklyn resident. His home had contributed to the manpower of our great nation upholding the ideals of our American freedoms in the U.S. Army. During his early years, Fred had served as an Usher at St. Aloysius Church in Oaklyn. He made his career as a machinist at Aluminum Shapes in Delair and had been a member of the Oaklyn-Bettlewood American Legion Post 84. Fred was a jokester and will fondly be remembered for his charismatic sense of humor at family get-togethers.
Mr. Lassby is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Janet (nee Harkins) Lassby and is survived by his nieces and nephews; Joseph Daniels, Mary Ann Catalano, Cathay Kernan, Betty Harding, James Daniels, Kelly Daniels and the late Patrick Daniels as well as his sister-in-law Joanne Marris. Frid is also survived and will be sadly missed by his feline companion “Buddy”
