Frederick W. “Fred” Hall, Jr. of East Galesburg, passed away with his daughter at his side on Tuesday, June 18, 2019, 10:16 PM, at his home. Fred was born on December 11, 1948 in Galesburg. He was the son of Frederick W. and Frances L. (Mc Auley) Hall, Sr. Fred married Janice Kraft on May 13, 1972 in Galesburg.

Together they celebrated 44 years of marriage before her passing on September 4, 2016. Fred is survived by his daughter, Leslie (Aaron) Taylor of Maquon; two grandchildren, Drew Martin and Courtney Taylor; sister, Beverly Duckwiler; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. Fred is a 1968 graduate of COSTA High School. Fred served in the US Army from 1968-1971.

He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. In February of 1973, he started work at Maytag as a laborer and retired after 30 years in 2003. Fred also worked for Kleine Mowing and the Oak Run Lake Patrol. Fred was a member of the Galesburg Bass Masters and Galesburg Archery Club.

He served as the Fire Chief for the East Galesburg Fire Department for over 30 years and he served as a board member on the village board. He loved the great outdoors and passed his love of fishing and hunting onto his grandson Drew.

Fred also loved a good joke and always had a story to share, putting a smile on many faces throughout the years.
