Frederick Peter Skalski,76, of Mattawan passed away on August 27, 2019 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. Born on March 20, 1943 in, Kalamazoo, the son of the late Peter W. Skalski and Mary L. (Papierz) Skalski. On September 28, 1974, he was united in marriage with Debora Lee (DeBaldo) Skalski, who survives him. They celebrated forty-five years of marriage.
He served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Radio Technician for the Michigan State Police. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Portage. He was an avid HAM Radio Operator. He volunteered and served his community in many capacities, most notably with the V.A. and with St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.
Surviving are his loving wife, Debora Skalski; two children, Vincent Skalski and Heather Hixson; three grandchildren, Katerina, Lillian and Alexander Hixson; two brothers, Richard (Mary Francis) Skalski and Felix (Jean) Skalski and one sister, Francesca (Ronald) Nelson; many nieces and nephews.
