Fred Greenhaw passed away on August 4, 2022 after battling Parkinson’s Disease. Fred was known for his kindness, integrity and hilarious sense of humor. Originally from Michigan, Fred served in the US Air Force after high school and was a Vietnam Veteran. He went on to work at the newspaper as a journeyman mailer for the Arizona Republic for over 20 years. Fred felt strongly about helping people, and at age 40 decided to switch careers and go to school to become a Registered Nurse. He worked as an RN for almost 10 years where he was known for his deep kindness and compassion to patients and peers alike and was recognized with several awards.
Fred truly had a zest for life and loved to have fun – whether it was singing karaoke, playing harmonica, jamming to classic rock, cheering for the Detroit Tigers or Lions, riding his Harley Davidson or cracking endless jokes, you could always find him finding the lighter side of life and trying to make those around him feel better. Fred was known for donning a handlebar mustache for several years, his signature look. He loved spending time with his Vietnam Vet Motorcycle Club brothers, where he was known as Handlebars.
