Frederick J. Twardy, 88, of Newington, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014. Born on October 7, 1925, Fred was the son of the late Philip and Mary (Tyrczyk) Twardy. A lifelong Newington resident, Fred was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of the Polish American Club as well as the Indian Hill Country Club. He had an easy-going personality and enjoyed gardening, ice fishing and hunting. A much loved uncle, he is survived by his niece and nephews: Kathleen Williams, John P. Twardy, his wife Donna and Bill Twardy; grand-nieces, Rachel Silansky and Nicole Twardy; great-grand-nieces, Karah and Brianna Silansky and a very close friend and neighbor, Eva Widlak. Fred was predeceased by his brothers, Theodore P. Twardy and B. John Twardy.
