Frederick J. “Fritz” Rolle III, a beloved local resident of Lavallette, NJ and Delray Beach, FL, passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2014 with family by his side. Fritz was born in Lakewood, NJ to the late Barbara and Frederick J. Rolle, Jr. on May 19, 1948 and resided on Pelican Island, on the Barnegat Bay, most of his life before moving to West Point Island in Lavallette.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 17 years, Jeanne Miller Rolle; his two sisters, Patricia Bennett (married to Robert Bennett, Jr.) from Lavallette and Michele Bodeep (married to Gary Bodeep) from Pelican Island, his children; Kimberle Rolle Samarelli (married to James Samarelli, Sr.), Rebecca, and Fritzy (Frederick J. Rolle IV); and two grand children, Samantha and James Samarelli, Jr. Fritz was a family man who enjoyed golf and travel. He was an avid sports fan, who, along with his son, Fritzy, enjoyed many games and events. Fritz was a man known for his kindess and generosity.
He was a successful businessman with a life-long career in the amusement industry. Those who knew Fritz well, associate him with a few of the NJ Boardwalks, most prominately, Jenkinson’s South in Point Pleasant Beach, where he was a partner. In the past, Fritz was President of the Seaside Heights Businessmen’s Association.
For more than 30 years he had been a Board of Directors member for the New Jersey Amusement Association (NJAA), holding 3rd, 2nd and 1st offices, ultimately serving as NJAA President in 1992-1993. Most recently, Fritz was named the 2012 Honoree for the Amusement Association. In addition to being an active member of many committees and organizations, Fritz co-chaired and helped raise $70,000 for the annual NJAA Golf Outing benefiting “Give Kids the World,” a nonprofit organization supporting children with life-threatening illnesses.
