Frederick “Fritz” A. Eckert, 79, Huntington, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:02 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, IN.

Mr. Eckert was born on February 25, 1934 in Huntington, IN to Raymond and Emma Jane McVoy Eckert. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Eckert married June M. Stoffel on May 7, 1959 at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Huntington, IN. She preceded him in death on September 13, 1983.

Mr. Eckert was a 1952 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. Mr. Eckert served in the U. S. Navy from 1953-1957. Mr. Eckert was a pipefitter/steamfitter for Shambaugh & Son, Fort Wayne, IN. He was a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Huntington, IN, VFW Post #2689, American Legion Post #7, Knights of Columbus #1014, Moose Lodge #837 and Steamfitters/Pipefitters Local 166.

Survivors include two sons, Mark Eckert, Huntington, IN and Paul Eckert, Owenton, KY; four daughters, Brenda (Tom) Shaw, Linda Sellers, Donna Eckert, Theresa (Mark) Kitt, all of Huntington, IN. Mr. Eckert is survived by five brothers, Tom (Winnie) Eckert, Huntington, IN, Charles “Chas” (Judy) Eckert, Palastine, IL, David P. (Mary Catherine) Eckert, Kenneth (Cheri) Eckert, Raymond Eckert, Jr., all of Huntington, IN; four sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Kindler, Mary Jane (Don) Bartrom, Marilyn (Buddy) Hayes, and Diane (Jim) Carl, all of Huntington, IN. Mr. Eckert is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Along with his parents and wife he was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Eckert, John “Jack” Eckert, and Joseph Eckert.
