Frederick C. Watson, 84, died Tuesday July 6, 2004 at Stephenson Nursing Center. Born December 10, 1919 in Harlem Township near Freeport.

He was the son of Clarence and Vera (Kneller) Watson. Fred worked as a farm helper before entering into the service in October of 1941. He served in World War II in Germany, France, Belgium and England and fought in the Battle of the bulge. He returned to the USA in February of 1946. He worked in Rockford and later moved to Chicago and worked for the Illinois Central Railroad.

Surviving are four brothers, Glenn of Freeport, Howard of Elkhorn, WI, Carl of Roscoe, and Robert of Burbank, IL, three sisters, Norma Schafer of Lena, Maxine Lamm and Dorothy Ness both of Freeport, along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, George, Earl and Oscar Watson, and one sister, Thelma Cross.
