Frederick Amigo, 92, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 while in the care of St. Luke’s Hospice House surrounded by his dear family. He was the loving husband of Consuelo (Gonzalez) Amigo with whom he shared 38 years of marriage.

Born in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frederick, Sr. and Mary (Heimpel) Amigo. Fred was a graduate of Liberty High School. After graduating, he worked at the Bethlehem Steel Mining Division while continuing his education at Moravian College where he earned a B.S. in English with High Honors. Later he attended Lehigh University to earn his Masters in English and Education. Fred was a teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District at Northeast Middle School and Liberty High School for 33 years until retiring.

Fred was the recipient of the first PTA Teacher of the Year Award in 1969. He loved music and playing the piano, guitar and drums, in addition of being an avid reader. He was the percussionist for I Paesani, a LV Italian Folk Group, and “Grupo Panamericano”, a LV Latin Folk Group for over 25 years. He was also known for his great sense of humor. Fred was a member of Holy Infancy Catholic Church, Bethlehem.

Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Consuelo, sons Frederick “Fritz” Amigo and his wife Laura of Maui, Henri “Hank” Amigo and his wife Laurie of Los Angeles, CA, Francis “Frannie” Amigo and his companion Kathy of Allentown; daughter Laura “Tai-Mui” Amigo of Bethlehem; brother Francis Amigo and his wife Charlotte of Albany, NY; his loving grandchildren, Michael, Annie, Jake and Olivia, and many nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his siblings Alice “Molly”, Josephine and Henri.
