Frederic W. Casioppo, Sr. of Newington was entered into eternal rest on June 6, 2016. Mr. Casioppo was the son of the late Joseph and Carmella Casioppo of New Haven, CT. He has been a Newington resident since 1953. He was the husband of Ursula (Amici) Kolb Casioppo whom he married in 1990. He was predeceased by his first wife of 42 years, Jane Anastasio Casioppo. Mr. Casioppo began a career in pharmacy on Election Day in 1932 when he was 11 years old. He graduated from New Haven High School (Hillhouse) in 1939 and Magna Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut College of Pharmacy in 1943. Upon graduation from UConn, Mr. Casioppo enlisted in the Medical Service Corps of the United States Naval Reserve and was on active duty with the Navy until 1946. He continued as a member of the US Naval Reserve until he resigned his commission as a Lieutenant. He returned to community pharmacy for two years until he began employment with the Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company of Indianapolis, which lasted for 35 years until his retirement on December 31, 1983. Mr. Casioppo was a member of the Connecticut Pharmaceutical Association, Connecticut Society of Hospital Pharmacists and the University of Connecticut Pharmacy Alumni Association, which honored him with a Pharmacy Alumni Distinguished Alumnus Award in 1973. He was also active for many years on the Newington Democratic Town Committee, which included service on its nominating committee, Charter Revision Commission and Board of Parks and Recreation. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Fred and Ellen Casioppo; son and daughter-in-law John and Susanne Casioppo; son and daughter-in-law Joseph Casioppo and Holly Hambleton; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Danielle Casioppo; daughter and son-in-law Susan and John Wiles; stepdaughter Karen P. Kolb and stepson Frank and his wife, Koren (Kory) Kolb. He is survived by 13 grandchildren: Elyse (Dathan) Roos, Michael Casioppo, Erin Casioppo (Wendy Barnes), Nick (Robin) Casioppo, Alex Casioppo, Daniel Casioppo and Alaina Casioppo; Emily Giese (Adam), Andrew (Julia) and Timothy Wiles (Erin Monnett); Sarah (Anthony) Wiles Garguilo; Giovanna Casioppo and Tristan Kolb. He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren: Delia and Nina Garguilo; Owen, Eli, Anora Roos; Jack River Casioppo; Olivia Echelson; Graham Giese; Sacha Casioppo-Barnes; and Freja Casioppo.
