Freddy L. Tippit, 66 of Centralia passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015, at Centralia Manor surrounded by his family. Freddy was born February 12, 1949 in Centralia, son of George “Fred” Tippit and Imogene (Tabor) Tippit.
He married Barbara Hughes on November 22, 1968 at Eternity Baptist Church in Centralia and she survives in Centralia.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by three daughters: Michele Basden of Centralia, Laura Mayer and husband Brent of Centralia, Jennifer Zink and husband Josh of Louisville; five grandchildren: Lexi Basden, Avery and Luke Mayer all of Centralia and Mila and Ledger Zink both of Louisville; a brother: David Tippit and wife Gayla of Centralia; three nephews: Chad Tippit of Centralia, Brad Hughes and Doug Hughes both of Mount Juliet, TN; a brother-in-law: Reggie Hughes and wife Debby of Old Hickory, TN; four nieces: Shanna Bateman and husband Jim of Centralia, Angela Betters and husband Alan of Centralia, Amy Benjamin and husband Mike of Centralia, Emily Tippit and Dustin Gansauer of Centralia; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Freddy served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. He worked in construction and as an electrician for Beasant Electric for many years. He enjoyed woodworking with his brother and friends. Also, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends.
