Mr. Fred Lawrence “Freddy” Cox, Jr., 68, of Sharpsburg passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Piedmont Fayette Hospital. Freddy was born May 8, 1952 in Coweta County to the late Fred L. Cox & Martha Helton Cox. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Elaine Brittain. Freddy grew up in Sharpsburg and graduated from East Coweta High School in 1970. After graduating, Freddy began his distinguished 38 year career with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office. Freddy also retired as a Sergeant from the National Guard. Freddy was a longtime member of East Newnan Baptist Church. Survivors include wife of 43 years, Cathy McWhorter Cox; sons, Adam (Tina) Cox, Chris (Lucinda) Costlow; brother, Stanley Cox; sister, Charlotte Duncan; eight grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
