Freddy Harper of Nashville, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at St. Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs. He was born August 31, 1938 in Dierks, AR to Jewel F. and Irene Lewis Harper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis Harper, one grandson, Caymen Harper, and two very close cousins, Jean Ball Tomlin and Roland Ball.
Freddy is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patsy Young Harper, five children, Ricky Harper and wife Sheila, Mike Harper and wife Tanya, Kim Kidd and husband Travis, all of Hope, AR, Darin Harper and wife Judy, of Green Forest, AR, and Kelly McElrath of Dallas, TX, two sisters, Ollie Godwin and husband Neal, of Nashville, AR, and Polly Harper of Little Rock, AR, one sister-in-law, Joy Harper of Little Rock. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, a multitude of great-grandchildren, and a host of close relatives and friends.
Freddy was raised in Nashville and graduated from Nashville High School in 1956. He served for four years in the U.S. Air Force before returning to his hometown to operate and own two prominent businesses, the J.F. Harper Candy Co. and Harper Tire, for many years.
Freddy was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Nashville. He served as an alderman and was a member of the Nashville County Club, where he held the title of Club Champion.
Freddy enjoyed singing gospel songs around the family piano, playing golf with his buddies, and sitting outdoors around a fire laughing and telling stories with family and friends. Freddy was known by all as someone who never had a good time that he did not enjoy to the fullest.
