Mrs. Freda Burgess Skeen, age 98, of Stonewood, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2014 from the Fairmont General Hospital. Mrs. Skeen was born on June 5, 1915 in Vaughan, WV a daughter to the late Matt and Dora Castleberry Burgess. She was the last of 14 children. Freda and her husband formerly owned and operated the Daniel Boone and Imperial Drive-In restaurant in Ripley, WV and worked as the banquet manager at the Sheraton Inn in Clarksburg. She was active at the food pantry at Clarksburg Baptist Church, and in her younger years was active at senior center in Harrison County, and was a life long member of the Clarksburg Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1972, Raymond Skeen; daughter, Sandra Savage; and son, Robert Skeen. She is survived by her 2 daughters, Gail Mihaliak, of Stonewood, and Diana Beauchamp, of Illinois; 3 sons, Barry and Ray Allen Skeen, both of Dawsonville, GA, and Samuel Skeen, of McMurray, PA; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and several other relatives also survive.
