Fred Willis Nielsen, the son of Chris and Edith (Warner) Nielsen was born September 13, 1926 in Webb, Iowa. His family moved to a farm north of Gilmore City in 1937. Fred attended school in Bradgate and then began his lifetime career in farming. On February 11, 1951 he was united in marriage with Christine Johnston. The couple was blessed with 6 daughters and they made their home south of Gilmore City. His survivors include Dianne (Tom) Harrison of Gilmore City, IA, Marilyn (Andy) Russell of Gilmore City, IA, Judy (Jim) Shields of Lineville, IA, Jane (Jack) Pershy of Corydon, IA, Kathy (Wayne) Frazier of Denison, IA and Becky (Don) Jergens of Spirit Lake, IA, as well as 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Preceding Fred in death were his parents, wife Christine, and brothers Earl and Julius.
