Richard was born in Star, Idaho to parents Fred and Mable on July 16, 1927. He had two older sisters Genevieve and Irene who preceded him in death.
Richard graduated from Nampa High School in 1945. He joined the Navy at 16 but had to wait to enter boot camp until he was 17. He served in the Pacific Theatre as a driver of an amphibious landing craft during WWII.
Richard is survived by Jean, his wife of 56 years, and children Rick, Tammy, and Darryl. He was preceded in death by his son Ron. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
