Fred Douglas Mitchell, Jr., 68, of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at his home in Horseshoe Bend.

He was born in Hutchinson, Kansas on October 31, 1951, son of Fred Douglas and Betty Ruthene (Beasley) Mitchell. Fred spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was united in marriage to Janice Fae Crouch on September 28, 1984 in Carson City, Nevada. During his working years, Fred worked for the City of Horseshoe Bend as an officer for 27 years and was promoted to Police Chief for the last 10 years. Fred was of the Christian faith. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Horseshoe Bend Men’s Golf League. He loved baseball, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and traveling to the beach. His dogs, Skippy and Katy were very special to him and he loved them very much.

Fred is survived by his wife, Janice Mitchell of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; parents, Fred and Betty Mitchell of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; sons, Jason Orrell and wife Jennifer of Memphis, Tennessee and Darren Orrell and wife Jacqueline of Saratoga, California; brother, Jerry Wayne Mitchell and wife Christa of Danville, California; sister, Valerie Clark of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas; brother-in-law, John Crouch of Salem, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Hunter James Orrell, Dexter Orrell and Addison Brown; nieces, Cassie Howell and Gracie Mitchell and nephews, Matthew Mitchell and Jack Mitchell.
