Fred H. McLary, 96, of Anderson, passed away on May 9, 2013 at Community Hospital Anderson. He was born on May 27, 1916 in Madison County, and resided all of his life in the Madison County area. Fred graduated from Lapel High School, and he served his country in the Navy during WWII. He retired from the US Postal Service after 32 years of service.

He was a 50 year member of the Pendleton Masonic Lodge, and the Pendleton Eastern Star. He enjoyed gardening, and he was all about his family, and was always there for his family. After retirement, he worked at Hooks Drugstore in Chesterfield.

Fred is survived by his children, Patty Richard Dyer of Carmel, Sharon Wood of Anderson, Terry Debbie McLary of Pendleton, Emily Wendell Allen of Anderson, grandchildren, Gary Dyer, Robin Donald Reedy, Randall Hoffman, Darrin McLary, Heather McMiller, Anthony “Tony” Kelli Allen, Blake Angel Allen, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and his granddog, Patches.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 72 years, Hilda McLary, father, William Hershel McLary, mother, Eva McLary, and his sister, Mae Kulp. The family would like to give a “Special Thanks” to the staff at Community Hospital Anderson, and to Dr. Jetty and his staff for the special care that they gave to Fred.
