One of Atlanta’s best known photographers, Fred Lanier McCord, Jr., October 28, 1945 passed away peacefully on July 23, 2018 after one last battle with pneumonia at home on Lake Oconee. The days before he went to be with the Lord, he was surrounded by friends, family and loved ones.
Fred was an avid sailor, fisherman, great husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife, Joy LeCraw, daughter Meaghan Torbert McCord, brother Millard Caldwell McCord, sister Susan Lanier Alcorn along with her husband Robert Alcorn and her daughter Austin McCord, a stepdaughter Melissa Alvarado and her son Val Alvarado.
He attended Georgia State University. A self taught black and white film developer, he became one of the most respected printers with the most desirable dark room in the Southeastern US.
