Frederick Lawerence Kelley, 71, Stratford, died peacefully Thursday, January 8, 2015.

Fred was born on February 22, 1943 in Ogden, to Elmer Jr., and Nellie Lucille “Lucy” (Johnston) Kelley of Stratford.

He married Nancy J. Bennett in 1964, and that union produced three children, Justin, Jamie and Jerrod.  The couple later divorced.

He farmed north of Stratford for a few years before working with his father Elmer doing custom corn shelling, corn picking and combining within the surrounding community.  He worked for numerous years as a truck driver for the Stratford Co-Op.  He also drove truck for Chester Blomgren of B and R Trucking out of Stanhope until retirement.

Fred, a retired calf roper, still enjoyed rodeos.  He cherished driving truck and was a recipient of at least eight safe-driver awards over his career.  His other passions included fishing, watching cowboy movies and “Wheel of Fortune” as well as catching up with his family around the kitchen table.’

Fred is survived by his three children, Justin J. Kelley of Unionville, Mo., Jamie Jo (Jeff) Knight of Boone, and Jerrod L. (Michelle) Kelley of Alexandria, Minn.; three siblings, twins Elmer Ray (Mary) Kelley of Lakeland, Fla., and Ethel Clausen of Stanhope and younger sister Nancy Vinchattle of Stratford.  He had nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He also leaves behindhis devoted canine Sally Sue.

Both of his parents and a brother-in-law preceded him in death.

According to his wishes, his body was cremated.
